In addition to information on cancer incidence, data are available about the characteristics of patients as well as about the nature and frequency of their tumour(s). Since patients’ records remain active on the Canadian Cancer Registry until confirmation of their death, survival rates for the various sites of cancer can be calculated.

“The primary objective of the Canadian Cancer Registry is to provide a national database of information that can be used to study cancer patterns and trends and to monitor differences in cancer risks and survival among different populations in Canada.”
