IHE/CAPT Precision Health Workshop – Final Program

On October 22, 2017, in conjunction with the 2017 Annual CAPT Conference, the Institute of Health Economics (IHE) and the Canadian Association for Population Therapeutics (CAPT) co-hosted the IHE/CAPT Precision Health Workshop.

Precision Health (PH) has potential to provide a wide range of solutions such as enhanced R&D efficiency, earlier diagnosis and time to treatment, guided patient and physician treatment decisions, and improved patient outcomes. The Canadian healthcare system cannot capitalize on these benefits unless the policies and systems evolve to keep pace with the rapid rate of change in science and technology. The workshop will review the potential for PH to contribute to patient care in oncology and other therapeutic areas, profile international case studies to share how other jurisdictions are embracing data and technology changes to move to a more individualized treatment approach, and identify gaps that currently exist in the Canadian framework and how this is impacting patients and care. The intended output from this workshop will include proposed solutions to close gaps and improve patient care.
