This report attempts to estimate the 1986 economic burden created by illness, disability and premature death on affected individuals and on Canadian society. Wherever possible, this report examines costs in relation to 18 broad diagnostic categories based on the Ninth Revision of the World Health Organization's International Classification of Diseases.
