Exploring the 70/30 Split: How Canada's Health Care System Is Financed provides up-to-date, comprehensive information on how Canada is financing health care. The report details the proportion of funding that comes from the public sector and the proportion that comes from private sources (for example, out-of-pocket payments, private insurance) for a variety of health services including hospitals, physicians, prescription drugs and dental and vision care. Provincial/territorial variations in funding patterns are documented and Canada is compared to other OECD countries to highlight similarities and differences in approaches to health care financing. This report also provides information about factors contributing to increasing health care costs in Canada.
