The primary data sources for this document are the Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS) Cycle 1.1 2000/2001, The 2002 Provincial Health Officers Annual Report, and the Census (2001 and 1996). Wherever possible British Columbia data is presented, however, when unavailable, national figures are
used. The profile also endeavours, when possible, to further break down the senior population statistics by age and gender in order to better illustrate the population's heterogeneity.
